Workshop “Forest delicacies”

Estonia is known for its large forests – a richness that we have used  throughout millennia. During the summer and autumn season, Estonians are avid gatherers of forest products such as mushrooms and berries. Living close to forests, we have learned to master the secrets of wild forest produce, we know how to use plants for food, and self-caught fish or game from a hunter are highly appreciated delicacies. 

During this seasonal workshop (from August till September) we will go on a trip to a forest and gather berries and mushrooms for ourselves. When we get back from the forest, we will put our aprons on and prepare a simple meal from forest produce under the supervision of an instructor. The menu consists of the following dishes:bread with ground elder pesto;
fish soup
oven-baked vegetables with wild mushroom sauce
blueberry pie

After cooking we will gather around the table to eat and commend the dishes nature has given us. Each participant will get recipes and certificates at the end of the class.
